Words That Should Never Be Spoken… Ever

Listable has a list of words it is not okay to ever say. I was going to post my own over here at some point, but I never got around to it. But here are my favorites:

  • Convo
  • Za (as in pizza)
  • Webinar
  • Lifestream
  • Funnest
  • Natch
  • Vaycay
  • Staycation

And I'd like to add to that (in no particular order):

  • Webisode (It doesn't matter if it's on TV, the radio or the Internet, it's still a fucking episode.)
  • Esurance (Shut the hell up already!)
  • Mancation (What, it's a different vacation if men are involved?)
  • Blogosphere
  • Manscaping (No, just… NO!)
  • Guestimate
  • Web 2.0 (Can we just upgrade to Web 3.0 and be done with it?)
  • Long-tail
  • Synergy
  • Beta (Sorry Google, you have officially diluted the meaning of this word.)

I rather like synergy. Not the oogie, overused version of today, where it's obvious that the user of this word doesn't know what they're talking about, but the kind that means humans working together. Which can be expanded into the kind you feel the world is on your side, and there's a certain flow, if you will. Definitely not enough of that kind of synergy. I concur fully about the others. ~a.
  • Really, the reason Synergy even made the list is because of its over/mis-use as a marketing buzz word. I agree that it holds much more weight in its original use.
