Botched ISP Order = Me Happy

In December, I decided my Internet bill was just too high. I was already paying $47/mo for 7m/512k RoadRunner, then they upped the bill by $2. It was a small change, but just what I needed to push me over the edge. After looking around, Earthlink seemed to be my best bet. Similar speeds, cheaper price ($30/mo for first six months, $42 after), and I could still use my cable modem.

Well, at least 10 phone calls to Earthlink, TimeWarner and even between them, and a month and a half later, still nothing changed. Earthlink would call to see if everything went through okay (first bad sign if they can't even tell if my connection is up). I finally called them back to say I was still being billed for RoadRunner. They transfered me to TimeWarner to get things straightened out.

The rep said "if this doesn't get straightened out, I can get you a similar price, say, $29.95/mo for 12 months. Would that be okay?" After being on hold for about 5-10 minutes, he comes back with this:

"There were some botched orders/paperwork from Earthlink that never went through. We could have them resubmit everything, but it might take a while. You said that you were switching because of price. I can offer you our 15MB/1MB access for $19.95 a month for two years. Would that be something you would be interested in? I can also pro-rate that back to December."

I gave an audible "Sure, that would be okay." But inside I was saying "Hell.... yes....."

So, for about $21/mo after taxes, I get this:

18008MB/970MB, 9ms, RoadRunner

18MB down... 1MB up. I'm completely okay with that.
